Rain coming

They say it is going to rain this week... it's dark and dreary. Hope it holds for the weekend.
Something about Memorial Day weekend that still makes me feel like school's out and summer is starting.. even though this year I am starting two classes in June at UCLA.
I am really excited for them they are both in Design and going to learn some design fundamentals.
I am sending in info to Volunteer at MOCA. Jeffery Dietch starts his reign as Director on June 1st. It's been a big debate about whether or not he is the right person for the job. I say give him a chance. The museum needs some life breathed into it because of the ongoing financial distress it has been in. And why not see if he can bring some exciting artists, events and programs to it. I am more interested to hear how he fairs in LA being such a New Yorker..

Converted in Marseille

Amazing converted Pasta factory in Marseille. That kitchen is insanely gorgeous. I love the colors and industrial feel.

Catalina Island

Catalina Island

Had my friend Jenny in town last weekend, which was so nice. We went to Catalina for the day. I had never been.
It was great to be out on a boat and the weather was great, very windy, but perfect Ice Cream weather!
I would love to go back and visit the other side of the island where there are campsites and wildlife.

Watercolors

New things I have made the past couple of weeks.

The first is a favorite. It is a version of a black and white wallpaper print I saw called fans.
working on some hexagon islamic inspired prints. Trying to go for a faded tile look with really muted and sunwashed colors.

My Style Icon

Jade Jagger lives the life I dream. She makes beautiful jewelry, grew up at The Factory, is an accomplished painter and has a gaggle of kids. She just collaborated on a line for Indiska which is a brand with 90 stores in Finland, Norway and Sweden selling mostly all Indian items.
The first three pictures are for the line.
The last 5 are of her 500 year old Farmhouse on Ibiza she calls home with her kids and Boyfriend.

Headboard Update

After years... I have a headboard for my bed. I found a brand new one totally assembled at a great thrift store. It was $30 and a Queen! I had this great linen/silk fabric from Mood for a few months. I am so glad I waited to find the perfect project for it. It looks great and I added a few pillows for the lounge chair in the corner with the extra.. I also have solid yellow fabric from Ikea that matches perfectly and used it to make some euro shams.
The bedroom is totally done. I just need to add three frames 20x20 above the bed and it will look complete.

Alvar Lithographs

Went to the Rosebowl on Sunday and found this book of original Lithographs from the Spanish Artist Alvar.
There are 27 prints and the book is in perfect condition. Here is a picture of a poster for a show.. and of a print. I already framed a few and they look great. The colors are perfect for me, deep oranges, blues, grey, white, gold.
I was playing around with my phone and the hipsmatic.. who doesn't love it!

Daybed ideas

Peter Hivdt
West Elm

Daybed Ideas.... I sold my french twin daybed a few weeks ago. Looking for a replacement that is more streamlined. A few ideas I found so far. I keep thinking I can make something like this.... but realize that could be a project I start and never finish because I don't have the necessary tools to complete it!
The first one is of a villa in Mexico--love love love the hammock in the middle of the room.
