Studio Choo

Image from Studio Choo.

I feel lucky to say that I know Althea from back in the crazy good days of San Francisco. She is a sweetheart and also was very good to me and extremely fun to go on night adventures with. While those days seem like another lifetime.... they are still fresh in my mind. I started seeing posts on Design Sponge* from Studio Choo every Thursday and quickly discovered that Althea and her friend Jill are the talented and beautiful women behind it.

Things that are blooming

The yellow shrub in the garden, which appeared to be beyond saving this fall.

Also some prints I am working on.

Natural History Museum

When I was in New York I had an afternoon to walk around. It rained pretty much every day I was back east except the last. So I trekked up t o CPW and went to the Natural History Museum. There was an exhibit going on called the Traveling the Silk Road. It was actually pretty fun. It was geared towards children...? maybe... but I learned a ton. It started in China with silk production, then to Turfan for the night markets and Furs, then to Samarkand to see the paper making and glassblowing ending up in Baghdad.
The silk road is something that is extremely alluring. To travel the same roads that so many people have traveled for thousands of years for goods, food, and most importantly silk. Silk has monopolized commerce for thousands of years. It is incredible that one product is still to this day harvested and used in the same ways as it was when it was first discovered. People have written many books on the subject and people retrace the steps and travel the Silk Road to this day. While there are plenty of countries that the Silk Road goes through that aren't easy to travel, including Iran, it is still something that would be a life changing adventure.

death

If you are, you breath.

If you breath, you talk.

If you talk, you ask.

If you ask, you think.

If you think, you search.

If you search, you experience.

If you experience, you learn.

If you learn, you grow.

If you grow, you wish.

If you wish, you find.

If you find, you doubt.

If you doubt, you question.

If you question, you understand.

If you understand, you know.

If you know, you want to know more...

And if you want to know more, you are alive...
